Birth Name, Adopted Name, Married Name

Question

Regarding: Gerken-276

1. Her name was Sophia Gerken at birth.

2. Her birth father died. Her new father adopted her. Her adopted name was Sophia Schulte.

3. She married. Her name became Sophia Knauf (neé Schulte).

I don’t see how to capture all three names in the available fields. So either I am misunderstanding something, or WikiTree adopted a convention to use in this situation.

Please advise.

Comments

The name she was using when she died is the Current Last Name.  Her Last Name at Birth is the obvious one.  All other last names go in the Other Last Names field.

Karl, you can also use the Adopted Child template on her profile in the biography since you can only attach one set of parents. This template allows you to link to the adoptive parents if you wish.

LNAB (Last Name At Birth) - Gerken

CLN (Current Last Name) - Knauf

OLN (Other Last Names) - Schulte
