Comments on Pierre-René (Julien) de St. Julian

I have a Pierre Julien, born July 4, 1669 that I want to add to the parents of this "Pierre-Rene.". Do I go ahead and do it, even though this profile exists?  I don't want to have it merged away.  I would like to connect the children of Pierre and Damaris Elizabeth LeSerrurier as seen here:  https://archive.org/details/abstractofgeneal01macb/page/9/mode/1up

On 24 Jun 2018 Rick Saunders wrote on Julien-147:

This person had no name Pierre, and he was not born 4 July 1669 at Vitre, France. He NEVER used the surname "de. St. Julien". That is an entirely different family which is no known relation. There was a person named Pierre de. St. Julien born at Vitre on 4 July 1669. Pierre (de) Saint-Julien, sieur de Malacare (NOT Pierre Rene) and his wife Jeanne Lefebvre had 3 sons (Pierre, Jr., Louis, and Paul) and 9 children total baptized at Vitre. ("Eglise Protestante de Vitre" by L'Abbe Paul Paris-Jallobert (Rennes, (France): Plihon et Hevre, 1890): 143-144.) See also Transactions of the Huguenot Society of South Carolina, 10: 26-29, 11: 25-44 and 105:70-87 (particularly the latter) for more information on this "de St. JULIEN" family.

This profile has been discussed before with a paper that states:  "As for the Pierre part, there is no record I have found that names, both, a Pierre, and a Rene St. Julien, as the same person. The National Genealogical Society accepts the existence of a Rene St. Julien. The only time a Rene Julian shows up is after the name has been anglicized by a semi-literate government official." It would appear on  the surface that the Pierre Julien you have with the same exact birth date of Pierre-Rene Julien in this profile is the same person and any additional profile would eventually get merged. However, the possibility exists that this Pierre married twice. The existing children in the current profile (with Mary Bullock) have birth dates starting in 1700.  The Pierre you have has 8 children and the next to last has a birth year of 1690. Instead of creating a new profile for your Pierre Julian, may I suggest you add a spouse to the current profile and then add the children based on your documentation.

The two persons are not the same. The will of Pierre de St. Julien, of "County of Berkeley, Province of Carolina," was written June 12, 1718.

The family of Pierre and Damaris Elizabeth LeSerrurier [[LeSerrurier-1]] are well-researched.  See also:

It is doubtful that Rene Julian, who lived in Maryland and died in Winchester, Frederick county, Virginia in 1745, even shares the same birthdate.
