What do I use in place of the Invalid Characters ( and [?

Hi Anonymous! It may depend on where you are trying to use them. It would help if you could please tell us exactly what you tried to do, what the situation or context was, and the precise error message you saw if there was one.
Yeah Anon, I agree with Jim.  They are obviously valid in a G2G question. I notice they're both characters that should have a mate at the other end of a phrase, and you didn't ask about those.  Does that have anything to do with it?

I agree with Dennis and Jim; however, maybe you ask about the name or location fields where separators for ( or ), and [ or ] are not allowed, among others.

In that case, maybe what you are trying to include isn't something that belongs in a field and is better explained in the Biography section narrative or Research Notes.  Since your question doesn't provide a specific profile or situation, this is the best I can give.
