I missed this, but have been out of the loop for two days with family issues. I just got egg on my face asking someone to post Hank Aaron's death and you are 2 days ahead and I should have known.
I just posted a story about Hank Aaron when two of our WT family sent his link. My brother, a retired sheriff, did a FB post on Friday telling of his return flight from Fort Leonard Wood following boot camp back in the 1960s. He was seated next to a 'very dapper and very kind black man' who turned out to be Hank Aaron. My brother (who described himself as a young kid fresh from boot camp) was thrilled to have a conversation with one of his heroes.
My brother and I attended a number of baseball games at Milwaukee County Stadium when Hank Aaron was a member of the Milwaukee Braves! This was back in the 1950s when we got bleacher seats for all of two bits and the Braves played teams like the Brooklyn Dodgers!
Those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end...but they do. Hank Aaron's death brought sadness to our hearts, but our baseball reminiscences of seeing greats like Hank Aaron hit homers watching from the bleachers bring much joy to us septuagenarians.
