Hello!
I joined WikiTree in the summer of 2019, but just recently started digging into the new user guides and learning my way around. I've also become a faithful viewer of the WikiTree livecasts and learn a lot that way too.
My maternal family names are: McMurray, Menzie, Ratnour, King, Schaff/Shaft, Redwood, Tudor, Chandler and Ealy. I felt a tug towards family history when I was a child because of the family belief that the Tudor name somehow tied us to Henry the VIII. I remember my parents taking me to the NY Public Library so that I could do some research. The research librarian was dismissive when she saw 8 year old me approach the desk, but when she let me ask my question, I got some respect! That made a big impression on me. I got seriously into genealogy research in the summer of 2015. I came across WikiTree when a Google search on one of my ancestors led me to her WikiTree profile and I was very impressed by the detail on her profile.
To put my family names into geographical context, my main areas of research are in South Gloucestershire, UK; Niagara Falls, Canada; and Madison County, NY.
My father's family is from Taiwan. I've done some research on my paternal ancestors but it's slow going with the language barrier.
I'm looking forward to becoming more involved with the WikiTree community. Thank you for having me!
