Have you seen the changes to the Barney Genealogical Record?

Nantucket Historical Association has implemented substantial changes to the Barney Genealogical Record. Looks like the same info is there, but structured quite differently.

It may be good in the long run, but I had lots of links to the old individual pages that now only take you to the new search.

This profile has an example of the old link:  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Macy-194

This one has an example of a link updated for the new BGR: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Macy-528

I don't know of a way to update the links other than manual, one-by-one revisions.

What do you think of the changes and how we should cope with them?

The only way of which I'm aware to deal with this is to manually correct the links . . .  (Can you hear me groaning ...)

I can hear them--between my own groans . . .

The new search function, however, seems pretty good. Much easier than looking people up by name in the old version. So having the old links go to the new search may be an acceptable interim situation.

I love your reply, John!  Positive and upbeat!!  smiley

Yesterday the Nantucket Historical Association sent out an announcement about these changes. Here's the text of what they said:

New Portal for NHA's
Genealogy Database
Now Available
The Barney Genealogical Database holds data for more than 40,000 Nantucketers over two and a half centuries.
Barney’s genealogy has been available to the public on the NHA’s website since the 1990s. However, new advancements, including powerful search capabilities, the ability to chart family relationships, and web-based maintenance capabilities allowing records to be corrected and expanded over time, greatly improve its function as a historical resource. For example, Barney’s original books do not contain death dates for Nantucketers who were still alive when she passed away in 1889, which can now be cited.
