Category Layout

Question

I would like peoples view as the Category area is under scrutiny at the moment.

Taking my area of interest, Wales, where I am team leader for the Category team.

There are the Subcats that we want, the Traditional Counties and then a whole load of things under the letter W.
Wales, this;
Wales, that;
Wales, the other

We don't want to smother the Subcats with these; they have no place in the alphabetic listing.

I have had to add an extra link under the CIB on the County Cemetery pages, because a new arrival is not going to look (for example) for Merionethshire Cemeteries under M.

Something seems to have got missed in the Category reorganisation which as a member of the Category Group I totally accept needs a good coat of looking-at.

For those of us using Categories "properly" it is a bit of a pain in the butt.

If the last sentence is inappropriate under Wikitree "Be-Nice-To-Everybody" rules, you should have seen the first draft!!!!

Is this just that the pipes aren't working to sort categories, or is this a different issue?

The same thing has happened to the England categories. I hope it's just a temporary glitch which will get sorted.

I assume this relates to the changes in Jurisdiction there have been in more recent times.

If not can you explain more as I am wondering if in the county pages we need to ensure that we provide information so that visitors to the page can pinpoint locations accurately?

Can we just direct to an external site such as Vision of Britain or do we need more explanation?

technical display issue Hilary, there have been changes on how Category pages display, with obvious imperfections.  They're working on fixing.
