I recognize some of the names in WikiTree and have additional information or corrections

Question

There are a number of people in WikiTree I recognize and have additional information or corrections (they are in my FTM file).  What is the process for making additions or corrections?

My own preference is to contact the Profile Manager first before making changes.  You can put a message on the profile page.  It will automatically get emailed to the profile manager; or you can send a private message to the profile manager. To do that, click on the link for the profile manager on the profile's page, then you will find a link to send the profile manager a "private message."

 

If the profile does not have a profile manager (displays as orphan), you can adopt it and become the Manager.

 

If there is no response, that is another issue and there is a procedure for that under the help menu (unresponsive manager).

If the profiles are set to the OPEN privacy setting then you could just click on the edit tab and make the changes. I would recommend however that you contact the profile manager and discuss any major changes with them first just to make sure that there is not some infoormation that would make your changes a mistake. As an example I have a lot of ancestors named John Smith born about the same time and in about the same location so it would be very easy to confuse them. On profiles that are set to any other privacy setting you will have to contact the profile manager with your information so that they can either add you to the trusted list for that profile or make the changes themselves.
