Hi C. Welcome to G2G!

What is the exact date that you are entering? (You can reply by using the "comment" link on the G2G web page for your question.)

Perhaps you are not entering the date in one of the permitted formats. They are described here:

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Date_Fields#Input_Formats

Another possibility is that there is an error message describing the problem in more detail at the top of the profile edit page. Be sure to scroll up to the top to have a look.

Might be the way you enter it for instance

3 Dec 1570

3 December 1570

December 3 1570

3/12/1570

Are all ok

12/3/1570 is not

In fact neither 3/12/1570 nor 12/3/1570 is recommended (see the link I cited above), though they both do seem to work.

12-3-1570 and 3-12-1570 are both permitted, but this is unfortunate and likely to lead to errors, because they are interpreted in American terms with the month first, and are ambiguous given that the rest of the world puts the day first.
I learned to type in 3 Dec 1570. This is - at least in my opinion - the least ambiguous version. That way you don't have to wonder: Is it the 3. December or is it the 12. March?
Well said, Jelena. Note also that "3 Dec 1570" is what WikiTree will display in the field, and this can act as a reminder of what is arguably the best format to use for data entry.

I'm sometimes a bit heavy handed on the keyboard and put in an extra space which I don't see. That triggers a rejection.

To me it happens sometimes that I type in 12 Okt 1889 instead of 12 Oct 1889. Then the system also says it can't interpret the date.
