The Moses Thompson of this profile was born in 1802 and was surely not of African descent. The Moses Thompson of the photographed gravestone was born in 1825. The gravestone pictured here honors a Moses Thompson who fought for the Union side in the Civil War with the 61st Infantry Regiment. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/61st_United_States_Colored_Infantry_Regiment Note that this unit was of African descent and that the gravestone is clearly marked "CLD," which meant "colored." To date, I think we do not know when Thompson-41543 died.
