What kind of help are you offering?  Research help in births, deaths, and marriages or help in translating information like the marriage investigations, Spanish language books or correspondence.

What are your rates?

Linda, I'm pleased to offer any of the help or information that you mention. It's purely a volunteer effort, without charge. I'm just trying to pay back some of the kind help I've received from others over the years.

I'm not able to travel much but living in Mexico and being fluent in Spanish I can easily perform research in Spanish in both internet and written sources, make telephone contacts, call upon some help from Mexican genealogists of my acquaintance and translate Spanish-language sources. I can't guarantee results but will gladly accept requests and do what I can to help.
Thank you, Patrick.  It's good to know that there is help for those of us who research our families in Mexico but have a problem with the language.

Linda.

You are very generous, Patrick. Thank you!

Just to be clear to others who may see this: The "Offers of Genealogy Help" G2G category and the Research Assistance category on WikiTree should only be used for volunteers.

I am interested in descendants of Joseph or Jose Camuñas (Velazco) a soldier who was in Mexico before 1810 in Spanish Army.  Originally from Daimiel, Castilla la Mancha, Spain.  Descendants now in Guadalajara, DF, Tijuana and the US.

Thanks very much.

I speak spanish well but am not too familiar with where to look for these mexican records.  Thanks again,

Jorge

¡Hola! Jorge,

Muchisimas gracias, me has animado muchisimo.

You made my day!

Jorge

Jorge, I can supply you with a few answers and suggestions but the volume of information is too large to be easily posted here. Please contact me using the e-mail address patrick@barnum.org and giving me your return e-mail address. Saludos cordiales, Patricio

Jorge,

Al parecer José Camuñas, esposo de Gila Ferrer, no era el mismo Joseph Camuñas Velázco. Ve esto:

"México, matrimonios, 1570-1950", index, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/JHLS-L9S : accessed 30 January 2015), José Camuñas and Gila Ferrer, 18 Jan 1857; citing Distrito Federal, Mexico, reference v21 p112 #14; FHL microfilm 35,285:
Name: José Camuñas
Birth Date: 1824
Age: 33
Spouse's Name: Gila Ferrer
Spouse's Birth Date: 1826
Spouse's Age: 31
Event Date: 18 Jan 1857
Event Place: Distrito Federal, Mexico
Spouse's Father's Name: José Ma. Ferrer
Spouse's Mother's Name: Ana Leguisamo
Indexing Project (Batch) Number: I08742-7 , System Origin: Mexico-EASy , GS Film number: 35285 , Reference ID: v21 p112 #14

Nota: Según algunos actas de fe de bautismo, parece que ellos tuvieron varios hijos desde años antes de casarse.

Saludos,

Patricio
I am writing via the Email address you gave me.  The Jose Camuñas that marries Gila Ferrer is not as I suggested, the son of Felix and Josefa, but would be a person from an earlier generation.  Possibly the father of this Jose Camuñas.

Joseph was born in Daimiel, son of Felix and Josefa, brother of Manuel.  He came to Mexico BEFORE the war of independence 1810.  My GGG grandfather had a document allowing him to travel to mexico in 1810, presumably to be with his brother.

Muchisimas gracias.

María,

I've not been able to find any birth record for your great grandfather on line. Assuming that he was born in or near La Joya (a distinct possibility), a personal visit or a conversation with the parish priest of the principal Catholic diocese in the area would be necessary. The church in Momax, the largest town in the municipality of Momax, is Templo Santo Tomás Apóstol, Iturbide #1, Momax, Zacatecas CP99720, México, telephone 55+ 43 7991 0026. The parroquia also has a Facebook page, at https://es-la.facebook.com/pages/category/Religious-Organization/Parroquia-Momax-Zacatecas-301343566865915/

Your great grandfather and his family were enumerated in the 1930 Mexico Census as follows:

Name: Roman Magallanes

Event Date: 1930

Event Place: La Joya, Momax, Zacatecas, Mexico

Residence Place: La Joya, Momax, Zacatecas, Mexico

Gender: Male

Age: 60a

Marital Status: Married both Civilly and in the Church

Birth Date: 1870

Birth Year (Estimated): 1870

Birthplace: Zacatecas

License Number: 6

Marital Status (Original Language): Casado por lo Civil y la Iglesia

Gender (Original Language): Hombre

Item Number: 4

Image Number: 461

Record Number: 16540

Household:

Roman Magallanes Head Male 60a born Zacatecas

Dolores Diaz Wife    Female 38a born Zacatecas

Francisco Magallanes Son Male 22a born Zacatecas

Victor Magallanes Son Male 19a born Zacatecas

Ramón Magallanes Son Male 17a born Zacatecas

When we went about a year ago we inquired they said the recordS should be Stored they were copied ( I’m assuming microfilm) .  What’s odd is that there’s no birth or death record for him marriage record to his second wife death record for my grandfather or marriage record for grandmother or grandfather , I can’t even find birth records for my parents or their marriage record even though they were married in colotlan Jalisco in 1976
