How trustworthy are reported birth locations in the 18th century Boston area?

I'm looking at the children of Ambrose Blaney-107 who was born and died in Lynn, Essex, MA. Family Search data report his first four children to be born in Lynn, the next two in Roxbury, Suffolk, MA and the last two Chelsea, Suffolk, MA. My suspicion is that all eight were actually born in Lynn. Comments?

(His wife Judith was born in Lynn and is reported to have died in Roxbury, which is probably correct as she was a widow and likely spent her last years with one of her two youngest children who were both living in Roxbury (though they were the two reported born in Chelsea.)

In this period it is not unusual for the children of a family to be recorded in more than one town. This generally occurred when the family moved and then all the births were again listed in the new location. If you find them listed in two or three locations, this is likely (not always) the answer. If you only find children 1-3 in say Lynn and only 4-5 in Roxbury then it is more likely the inferred place of birth is correct if the records for both locations are complete. No hard and fast rules on any of this. I recall one case where the person moving was the town clerk in both places so everything about the family that occurred in one town was again entered in the records of the new town after they moved.

I found Ambrose/Ambrus birth (and marriage) in Lynn Vital Records but none of the children are recorded at Lynn.  I checked familysearch.org and they are not recorded as born in Lynn either?

Blush! Chris you are absolutely right. This is embarrassing! Unbeknownst to me I was looking at data that I myself had created in my very early days on Ancestry before I learned that Ancestry could return a lot of erroneous information that was created by users. Those days are long gone for me but not all of it has been cleaned up yet. I have a task to revisit, verify and rewrite all the WikiTree profiles created when I transferred all my Ancestry data to WT in a gedcom some while back. Thanks for pointing out my error!
