Thank you for posting this Emma. It's very sad news.
Dave will be missed. He was passionate about disability advocacy and making websites accessible to people with disabilities. And his IT background made him an asset to the Accessibility Angels Project - he had been using his IT skills to test how WikiTree's website measures up against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
I was just looking back through my emails with him.
Dave was always up for a challenge. To simulate what it is like for people who lack fine motor skills in their hands, one day he volunteered to use WikiTree for the whole day without touching his mouse.
I got an email from him the next day saying, "The mouseless day could have gone better. :)" After an hour and a half, he had learned enough for the whole day and went back to using the mouse to get things done!
It was great to see him diving into the US Black Heritage Project and as Member of the Week.
In another of his emails, there's a postscript, "My friends think it's cool that I know a Paralympian!"
I replied that I was no different than him. But now I realise I was wrong. I don't measure up. Rest in peace, Dave.
