Help us honor WT member Dave Ebaugh who has passed away

I am sad to announce that our WikiTree member, David Ebaugh passed away this month. For those who wish to offer condolences to the family, you can do it here on the Legacy website

Dave was a very active member of the USBH Project. His dedication, enthusiasm, and wit will be missed. I know he was also an active member of the Accessibility Angels. In honor of his life and work, we'd like to ask for help completing some of the tasks he had on his to-do list. You can see some of his list on his personal profile. He often created stub profiles and then went back and fleshed them out because he hated mostly empty profiles. Can you help us fill some of them out?

Here is a list of his US Black Heritage profiles:

If you add a biography and sources, but there needs to be more family profiles attached, please add the maintenance category: [[Category: US Black Heritage Project, Needs Profiles Created]]

You can see some of the other profiles he was hoping to work on here:

Thank you for helping us honor Dave!

This is such a shock.  He was active only 12 days ago.

I had only interacted with Dave on the Pollard discussion on the Super Bowl EPOW thread, but enjoyed the discussion and the support.  He will be missed.
So sad to hear of this news.  I've admired Dave's work and I was shocked to hear this.  Best wishes to his family, rest in peace brother.
Definitely will be missed here. Rest in peace, Dave.

This is a big loss for us and our tree. I didn't interact with Dave, but saw his work and appreciated what he did. I'm working on adding his great-grandfather's siblings and the rest of his aunts/uncles in that line. He had that on his profile page as a "to do." Rest in peace, Dave.

Thank you for posting this Emma. It's very sad news.

Dave will be missed. He was passionate about disability advocacy and making websites accessible to people with disabilities. And his IT background made him an asset to the Accessibility Angels Project - he had been using his IT skills to test how WikiTree's website measures up against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

I was just looking back through my emails with him.

Dave was always up for a challenge. To simulate what it is like for people who lack fine motor skills in their hands, one day he volunteered to use WikiTree for the whole day without touching his mouse.

I got an email from him the next day saying, "The mouseless day could have gone better. :)" After an hour and a half, he had learned enough for the whole day and went back to using the mouse to get things done!

It was great to see him diving into the US Black Heritage Project and as Member of the Week.

In another of his emails, there's a postscript, "My friends think it's cool that I know a Paralympian!"

I replied that I was no different than him. But now I realise I was wrong. I don't measure up. Rest in peace, Dave.
