My closest connection is with John James Audubon, who is 20 degrees from me through my father's side.

Out of all of these people, my only recorded blood relation according to WikiTree is Sir Peter Scott, who is my 11th Cousin 6x removed. Our common ancestors being Michael Stanhope & Anne Rawson.

It was fun reading about some of these wildlife experts. Growing up, I read some of Audubon's work and watched Steve Irwin's show - fond memories. I didn't know about any of the others.

This set was fun and filled some gaps in my knowledge of wildlife experts. Marta Johnson, the WikiTree Member of the Week, is 22 degrees through my paternal side and a 12th cousin on my maternal side.

Jean Audubon at 19 degrees is the closest.  Fun, since I grew up within a long bicycle ride of John James Audubon state park.  Now, thousands of miles away, we have a nice reprint of his Red Shouldered Hawk painting in a prominent place.

No relatives, aside from 9th cousin twice removed Marta Johnson.

I am 20 degrees from Jean Audubon. That's cool!

I am an 11th cousin, once removed to Sir Peter Scott. We are both connected to Arthur Mainwaring, born in Shropshire, England. He, through Arthur's daughter Elizabeth Ashton. Me, through daughter Mary Cotton through the Robert Abell line.

I am also the 11th cousin to Dian Fossey. Dian and I were born in San Francisco. She's a California girl! We are both connected to William Oldham Sr. 1568-1636. He was born in Derby, Derbyshire, England. My connection goes through Grace Brewster, who was related to a Mayflower Passenger, William Brewster.

I was quite surprised this time how close a connection I had. Peter Scott is my 11th cousin, but he married my 6th cousin (3 times removed on my side), bringing him even closer on the connection finder, down to 17 steps.

CRIKEY! I'm 23 degrees away from Steve Irwin. That's pretty amazing. Does that mean I'll wrestle a croc to the ground? No. I'll leave that to the professionals. =)

Now to find a pair of those shorts....
