How do you celebrate an Ancestor's Birthday

I have found a way to wish all the ancestors a Happy Birthday.

On the Family Feed email there is listed the weekly Birthdays which I copy and paste to my Blog. http://familytree4sargent.blogspot.com/2015/01/january-8-12-birthdays.html

This is then shared on my G+ and Facebook.

Can't wait for February Bdays to see if any of the ancestors share my Bday.

Is there a way to have a list of those who have passed on....I am getting very active on FIND A GRAVE and would like to place flowers on their profiles. Same for Anniversaries.....know that is a Tall order, but may be wishful thinking.

Great idea. I used the anniversaries to force me to work a little more on those people in my tree.

I am the one who'd asked about marking birthdays, and Guy was terrific enough to create a page for that, but I think I am one of the few that uses it to share my birthday wishes for an ancestor. I hope more start using it, and I think something such as what Guy did would work for marking passings and anniversaries.

The only suggestion I'd like to make is that it could be added to the drop down list under the 'find' tab. I have the  http://www.wikitree.com/g2g/110511/its-my-birthday-today in my favorites so I can find it easily, but I would have to do a search if I didn't have it marked. Also not sure how many others are aware of Guy Constantineau's creating a place to share birthdays. January is one that I have many ancestral births to share. If a similar one was created and we would post our family passings or anniversaries, it would be easy to click on their profile to add your flowers or sentiments I would think!

That's neat, Pam. I hadn't noticed the other thread with you and Guy.

We should do this.

Speaking of spreading the word about Wikitree which is already free!, I found you as an asset in My Family History Center at my church. The church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We have a library open to the public (member or non-member) for Ancestry research. The church pays for membership to lots of Ancestry sites, and we get to use them for free, at the library with the latest computers and printer's, and photo scanners ect. All for free! So I go to the church library, log into wikitree, now I find my ancestors birthdays for the week, and post them on the WIKITREE birthday board in the library. Others have also used this tool here! The church has 43,000 history centers around the country. Find one! And expand your Wikitree branches with a group of friends using the newest equipment for free
Our family does not even celebrate our own birthdays and anniversaries so there would be no reason to celebrate those of our ancestors! However, getting emails of these occasions could also be used to check their profiles for possible updates!
My hope is to create a calendar of all my ancestor's birthdays and deaths... might have to be two calendars but the thought of a death calendar just seems morbid.  However, I like knowing both to remember them especially, on those days, and if their graves are local I can visit.

That's awesome, Deborah! I love the blog post.

So, you're asking about getting a list of family members who died in January, or were married in January? That's certainly feasible, especially if there are others out there who would share this sort of thing on blogs or social networks. That's great for WikiTree because it spreads the word about us.

Thanks, beat me to it.
I would also like this. :) Right now I just save all my Family News emails for reference. I like to make little improvements to profiles and then share them to Google+ on their birthdays. That would be a nice thing for anniversaries and deaths, too.
I had no idea this would be so popular. We'll do it. It shouldn't be too hard.

I'll get it in the pipeline and post here when there's progress.

Thanks everyone.
Thanks Chris

Thanks Eowyn , clicked the link to the question and added it to my favorites.

Lianne , I have 3 seperate email folders for Wiki Tree

This feature is now ready: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Anniversaries

If everything seems to be working we'll link it from the menu under "My WikiTree" shortly.
an excellent idea
I had a conversation with my daughter about keeping up with family birthdays.  There are quite a few in our family: 5 children & spouses, 15 grandchildren and a few step-grandchildren.  The grandchildren are getting married and there are currently 9 great-grandchildren.  I used to be pretty good a keeping up with it.  Not so easy now.  I have remembered my mother's mother's birthday; since, my mother told me when it was when I was young.  It was important.    After thought, I went by local genealogy library in Houston, and renewed my county/library card today.  It was convenient to our trip home.  Genealogy began to become important to me as a teenager.

I don't  really celebrate. I acknowledge the birthdays and that is about it.
