What happens to data fields from a profile merged into a surviving profile?

Question

Is there any way to find the data fields from a profile that was merged into another profile? For example if I merge Hill-456 into Hill-123, after the merge, is there any way to find the data fields from Hill-456 again?

I know there is a comparison screen during the merge that shows the values in each field, and the person doing the merge can select the appropriate one to use.  But what happens to the data that wasn't used in the surviving profile?

The reason I ask is that sometimes the data may be valuable to retain, and should be copied to the bio or held elsewhere rather than just eliminated in favor of the surviving profile.

Hi S.,

Click to the changes page for the surving profile. Then click the link inside the change item that describes the merge. That should have the details you need.

I am not certain I understand.  I was looking at Ramsour-2, merged into Ramsour-1.  I just looked at the changes tab in Ramsour-1, and I see all the various items that were changed, but I don't find a way to see the original first name of Ramsour-2, which was Catherine, before she was merged into Ramsour-1, who is Margaret

Are you sure that these are the WikiTree IDs? It looks like Ramsour-2 wasn't merged into Ramsour-1. http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Ramsour-2 is still there.

Sorry, Chris. My mistake. It was Ramsaur-2 into Ramsaur-1.  I have since found the way to see what was originally in Ramsaur-2, following your suggestion.  The key is knowing what the original profile was before it was merged, which in this case I had.
