Registration is now closed for our 2021 Spring Clean-a-Thon!

This is our fifth annual Clean-a-Thon. The mission is to clear out as many database suggestions as possible in 72 hours. 

The cleaning will start on Friday, April 23, at 8 AM (EDT) and run until Monday, April 26, at 8 AM (EDT).

Will you join us?

To register, just click the ANSWER button and say "Sign me up!" or whatever and include a few words about your location and/or genealogical interests. This will help us assign you to a team. If you already know what team you'd like to be on, say that. The current teams are listed here. More may be added.  Please double-check and make sure the team you are interested in is participating.

Not sure where to post my guess total number of how much we get done. My guess is 175,000.

I unconnected a potential merge because I thought the wives were different people, but then found a source showing they were the same person. I said I corrected it, but I didn't. How do I fix my mistake?

I'd restart the merge, put the documentation for the wives matching on both wives, and then start the wife merge.

There is no profile badge for this thon, the only Thon that gets Badges is the original Thon, the Source A Thon. I have you on the Might Oaks Team List alongside your name are your chosen counties.

I'm in and I want to clean up some suggestions of the infamous DeCoursey GEDCOM. If anybody wants to join me for that weekend we could create a "Team DeCoursey" ;).

I took that one because it alone offers more than 15000 suggestions. And even if you don't try to find dates for the thousands of profiles that don't have any date, you have enough suggestions to get the number of suggestions significantly down.

Jane, I call that Gedcom "infamous" because, as Lisa stated correctly, most of us WikiTree-members who are here for several years, have had contact to this Gedcom. It is one of the oldest Gedcoms here, still of the times when there were no restrictions to the size of uploaded Gedcoms. This Gedcom has around 59k profiles, thousands of them don't have any date at all. This also was allowed then, but now it causes suggestions. And, on top of all those problems that come up because it was uploaded so early, I heard diligent contributors saying "I don't touch that Gedcom at all!" I think if this Gedcom loses some of its suggestions because there are people working at it, it will help the health of the Big Tree loads.

I am curious, how do you find the info on a Gedcom? I want to look at the suggestions on that one but am not sure how to get there.

If you go to the list Suggestions by Locations there is a section "Projects" and there the DeCoursey Gedcom has its own paragraph.
