I set off to develop the Orphaned Profile of [[Hubert Anslow|Anslow-4]].

I then found [[Hubert Anslow|Anslow-47]]

Look if you dare, I don't even know my question!

I adopted Myrtle Grace some time ago as her double given name was suspicious, but found nothing. I have now detached her from her supposed parents which appears to have detached the whole group from the tree. If it's a hoax or a con it's pretty elaborate. What's next?

TBH I've no idea what's going on. The very strangest thing is that I noticed that Anslow-4 was (1485 - 1563) now all early indications showed that Anslow-47 was (1888-1963), so not exactly 400y difference on each date. However as my research went on I was amazed to find that there are strong indications that Anslow-47 y.o.b. may well have been 1885 so making both dates exactly 400y apart. How very strange.

This trick is often seen in New France (Québec) ancestries too. Parents of 17th century migrants from France have families who are exactly the same as a Québécois family who lived 200 or 300 years later.

It's not a hoax or a con, just someone confused who put that out there, and was copied by someone else who followed a hint and didn't stop to check sources, and then was copied again, etc.

I can certainly understand the method of the repeated mistakes of copying unsourced family histories, but there has to be an original action here. In this case I'd say that the coincidence is far too great for this to be a natural event.
