I was proud to claim Myles Standish as one of my 18 Mayflower ancestors, but after reading the articles about his atrocities committed against the Native Americans I'm ASHAMED to have this barbarian in my family! Jack MacDonald-Hilton

There is also this from the article

Yet the violent preemptive strike was condemned even by the Pilgrims’ own spiritual leader, John Robinson, who had remained at their safe haven in Holland.”

Different times, Entirely different circumstances. That's an excellent reason to view in today's lens.

Thank you for the link.  Apprecuated the info.  My family arrived to the area in 1634.  Generations of my Belchers lived in Weymouth.  Descendents still do. Appreciated the context gor the area.
