Newbie Introduction

Hello!  I just transferred over my info from; I am awaiting DNA results that I sent in on Dec. 1st.  Estimated date of results: Jan 6th  LOL.

My interest in geneology has to do with medical information.  My two children both have hypermobile ehler-danlos with significant physical and mental manifestations.  That is an autosomal dominant inherited connective tissue disorder.  The heredity in hindsight traces through me and my mother, although we both have mild symptoms that never amounted to a diagnosis, just a lot of random unrelated treatments for conditions they couldn’t link to anything.

To make things more complicated my mother was adopted, so our disorder history ends there.  I would like to know who her father is so I can rule out cadiovascular ehlers-danlos, which is much more severe.  Plus it’s just so interesting!

So that is alot, but I wanted to reach out.  I spend at least an hour a day researching.  I have not figured out how this site works, so it’s a little slow going on this end right now!  Hopefully I can be more involved once I know how to properly do things here.

I live in Iowa, I work full time as an accountant, I am married with two kids aged 15 and 12.

Hi Kelly, welcome to WikiTree. As a teenager I took care of two girls with disabilities. One was three years older than I was, and the younger one was two years ago younger. They would be 73 and 78, and there was no medical diagnosis at that time. They were neighbors and a big part of my life growing up.  I hope you will enjoy being part of WikiTree and that you are able to find out more about your family history.
