How do io categorise a profile appearing in the Assiniboia (east/est), The Territories census [closed]

I have Lawford-211 who emigrated to Canada.  The family appear in the 1901 census for Assiniboia (east/est), a large area bounded by Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta that existed from 1882 to 1905.  The record of the census does not quote a settlement name to allow the categorisation to be refined, nor does it allow the profile to be assigned to a modern region.

A daughter does place the family on the 1891 census at Broadview to the east of Regina.

This is an excellent question. It is often quite a challenge to figure out what modern locations these records correspond to. So how to categorize them?

There is a clue in his children's records, They were born in Manitoba, with a reference to Broadview which appears to be a region in Manitoba, or a township in Saskatchewan , and married in York, now a suburb of Toronto.  I need the advice of those used to using the Canadian categorisation system who understands the geography.

If they were in or near Broadview in 1901, they would be from Broadview, Assiniboia, Northwest Territories, Canada. Chances are there is no category for there yet.
