Is there a project that covers these pre-1700 people?

I want to contribute to the deep genealogy on our shared tree. Here are people I can add, along with dates and locations:

  • Rice Williams, non-conformist preacher,  born ca 1670; married Elizabeth Felton 1706, died 1750 at Boxted, Essex. I am descended from his daughter, Dorothy Williams.

Here are the sources I am using:

  • "England Marriages, 1538–1973 ", database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NL9W-8XS : 12 March 2020), Rice Williams, 1706.
  • I have a copy of his will which I need to add as a source.
  • I have also seen burial images for his and Elizabeth's death.
  • I have not been able to find his birth but have estimated his birth at about 1670

Should I contact one of the pre-1700 projects or know about any style guidelines before proceeding? Thank you!

Hi! I see you added their profiles, so I added a link to Felton's profile in the question & also added the England tag. Tags help direct attention to a G2G post & linking to the profile makes it easier for folks to take a look. You can add a profile or or a space page in one of the boxes at the bottom of the window where you write your question. Since you can only add one profile or space page in that box, here's the link for her husband's profile: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Williams-97333
Thank you. I will remember to add tags. Thanks for the note about adding a profile or a space page and for the link. I need to do some more study about how to use Wikitree.
You're doing great. Just wanted to share some tips.

Hi Susan,

Looks like you're doing some amazing work. You might be interested in joining the England Project where you can collaborate with some wonderful people working in the same areas as you. Have a look at their project page and if you decided to join, you can do so by answer this post here.

Best wishes,

Olivia :-)

Thank you for the compliment. I may be interested in the England Project. It sounds really interesting and a great way to learn.

Adding the Will would be excellent, especially if it names his wife and/or other family members.

Estimated birth dates are iffy.  What made you pick 1670?

Thank you, I will do this (might take a while as I am a slow transcriber). I picked 1670 as Elizabeth Felton was probably baptised after 1670 (the date of her parents marriage), and I assumed he would have been twenty plus when he married. If there is a better way of showing it I am happy to change it or leave it out.
There's probably not a perfect solution. Leaving the birthdate blank makes it harder to locate the profile, but estimates have their own problems.  I tend to use "after", myself.
Thank you. I will change it to "after".
