According to an original birth certificate of my Gandmother, Julia Moriarty (DOB: 17 June 1880 in Dingle, Kerry, Ireland - DOD: 22 August 1958 in the USA);  her parents Patrick (5 July 1849 - 24 Nov 1909) and Margaret Ferris (1855 - 21 Jan 1903) both previously resided in Ballyhea, Kerry, Ireland but I have not been able to ascertain their respective parents and siblings or where and when they were married.

Any help in locating this data would be much appreciated.

Hi Maria,

my name is Mary Jane Kirby, from Australia.

I am researching this branch of the Moriarty family.

Patrick Moriarty and Margaret Ferris married 28 Feb 1862, Dingle. Co Kerry. Ireland.

His parents Daniel Moriarty and Catherine Farrell. Her parents Thomas Ferris and Mary Moriarty.

Great answer! This shows the power of world wide collaboration on wikitree to find those illusive ancestors. Good job!

My grandmother was a Moriarty and so along with some other Moriarty cousins we are compiling a book that after quite a few years is going to be released in co Kerry. Ireland by the end of this year (2015).

As for Julia Moriarty who married Ralph Cote, i'm sure Maria knows about. Glenn has sent me a copy of her birth certificate and I also have pictures of her and her parents.

We also are tracing more on Patrick John Moriarty and Margaret Ferris. In reference to their birth/baptism. The transcript of their marriage proves their parents. (see previous message). Also it states that Patrick came from Ballinaboula. Dingle. Margaret from Ballyhea. Dingle.

Patrick had 5 siblings (as far as we know)... Juliana b. 1819, James b. 1824, Catherine b. 1827, Daniel b. 1829 & Patrick b. 1832 d.1840. Although it is recorded in some American records that  Patrick John was born as late as 1849, we feel he was more likely born in about 1841(still looking for his birth record).

As for Margaret, she is also hard to trace her birth/baptism records. But it looks like she has at least 2 siblings, Ellen b. 1829 & Bartholomew b. 1840. So we feel that Margaret dates may be a bit out as well (still need to prove her birth/baptism).

Hope this is some help.

Mary Jane
