Does anyone have knowledge of some good sources for an English ancestor?

I am in need of sources to find out more information about one of my so many greats grandfather, who immigrated to the United States from England some time in the late 1800's, to early 1900's. His profile is attached, and I appreciate any help.

There is actually a very helpful record for him on FamilySearch - his marriage record is at, which shows his parents were Thomas Files and Jane Ormesher.

That matches well with his birth record at the General Register Office (

Here he is with his parents and siblings in the 1871 census -

Thank you SO much. This is very helpful, I don't know why I didn't try family search, since I've been using it a lot.

This is a link to the England Projects suggested sources for that period.  I hope it helps you find what you need.
