I'm finding the category pages very useful for grouping profiles of people who share something in common -- in this case property ownership, which can tie generations together and sort out one family from another. In this case, the category is a piece of property which various related people have owned and passed on through wills and marriage.
So categories are already great. However, when next you're tinkering with the underlying code, I would suggest two enhancements that would make categories even more useful:
1. First, make it easy to import images to the category's narrative. When writing up this piece of property, it would be helpful to show a map of its location, and pictures of historic dwelling places on it.
2. Allow designation of a manager for the category. This is not so much to claim ownership -- which obviously is against the Wikitree ethos -- but to provide a contact link for someone who finds the category useful and wants to consult with the person who put it together.
It would be lovely if it became possible to revise a category's name after it's been in use, but that might be impossible. I"m about to change a category "Battersea" to "Battersea Plantation, Maryland," and will have to change each profile by hand, creating a new category to replace the old. Perhaps if there were a re-direct mechanism so that all the profiles currently labeled "Categories: Battersea" would redirect to "Categories: Battersea Plantation, Maryland" that would save some effort. But that woudl be frosting on the cake!
