I have been criticised (privately) for not going through the detailed profile of the merged person. My reply was as follows:
I specifically avoid doing this, unless I know for certain what the answer really is.
It is often clear that these are the same person, but the minutiae of the merge should, in my view, be left to those who propose it. I spend as much time as possible confirming the merge, and give specific reasons if I put the merge on hold. In order to clear the backlog of pending merges I have spent several hours going through them. The Scandinavian ones were particularly hard work. For me to go through the details of the merged individual would be futile.
I have cleared more than 50 of the pending merge backlog today and am feeling a bit teed off, in case you hadn't noticed!!!
