Pending merge not cleared

+3 votes
The top of the pending merges list are two Henry Trents. They have been approved for merge some time ago but have not been cleared from this list.

Can someone do it for me, and show me how to do it so if it happens again I don't need to trouble others.

I have been criticised (privately) for not going through the detailed profile of the merged person. My reply was as follows:

I specifically avoid doing this, unless I know for certain what the answer really is.

It is often clear that these are the same person, but the minutiae of the merge should, in my view, be left to those who propose it. I spend as much time as possible confirming the merge, and give specific reasons if I put the merge on hold. In order to clear the backlog of pending merges I have spent several hours going through them. The Scandinavian ones were particularly hard work. For me to go through the details of the merged individual would be futile‚Äč.

I have cleared more than 50 of the pending merge backlog today and am feeling a bit teed off, in case you hadn't noticed!!!

The merge is showing as having been completed yesterday.  I think there is either some lag in the updating of the merge list or there is a glitch somewhere that is causing it to still show when it's not supposed to be there.

If it happens again, and you observe that the merge has been completed then there is no choice but to let leaders know about it so they can clear that glitch.  I'm sure they appreciate your consideration in trying to avoid troubling them!

THANX for posting this - it is the right way to let them know about it.

I don't think there is a lag as I have completed nearly 50 so far today!
I have noticed three or four times when I started to complete a merge recently that I got a message the merge had been completed two or three months ago.  I didn't take note, however, of the profiles so I can't report them now.  I'll be on the look out.
If you click to compare that merge, you'd see "Nov. 30, -1" as the merge date. That happens sometimes for unknown reasons (though less than it used to). It just needed to be removed by a sysop (which I just did).
