What is the status of a requested sticker for the I.O.O.F.

A request was made this past January for the creation of a sticker for the I.O.O.F..  I believe all the criteria for its creation was met and at the time quite a bit of work was put forth toward it.  If something is yet lacking, please let us know.

The sticker recently achieved the requirements for creation (3+ members who can use the sticker). The sticker is now available as:

{{Society Member|society=IOOF}}

You can see additional examples and parameters for usage at: Template:Society Member (bottom of the Examples table).

When I worked on this, I never got a clear indication of how the sticker should be applied to Rebekahs when we do not have a specific Rebekah lodge to identify.

Steven's implementation of the sticker does not include options for these Rebekahs.

Also, I was confused about the image to use. I think it was supposed to be changed to be the image at https://www.wikitree.com/photo/jpg/Ron_s_photo_s_and_stuff-11. Is that correct?

EDITED: I changed the image in the template to the one at Ron_s_photo_s_and_stuff-11.

The template that I drafted had separate versions for Odd Fellows and Rebekahs. One reason for this was that there are separate categories here for these two groups. It seems incongruous to use the IOOF category for women who were Rebekahs. Apparently the separate designation of Rebekah was retired about 20 years ago, but most of the profiles using these templates are for people who died before that.

I have now added the IOOF category to the template that Steven edited. This unfortunately puts women like this woman into the IOOF category instead of Category:Daughters of Rebekah.

Thanks!  It is obvious that I do not understand all that goes with the creation of a "sticker".  Is there some deep seated computer criteria that requires a sticker to be linked with a category?.  The four cited on the Society Member page look good to me.  Can the lodge # and location be added in on the men's sticker if known, as it is for the ladies?   Since I have already placed many of my profiles in the category (either I.O.O.F. or Daughters of Rebekah), by adding a sticker now, is the person going to be on the category list twice?  As I understand, the Image being used is correct.   As suggested a month ago, any questions about the I.O.O.F. should be addressed to Terry Barrett, who is an officer at the I.O.O.F. head quarters. He has been and is most helpful.    As a family historian, I apricate the work you all have done.

Many stickers are set up to add the profile to a category, and that seems appropriate in this situation. It is not required for a sticker to do this. If the sticker adds and category and the category was also added manually, the category will appear only once on the profile page.

The format used for sticker documentation is intended to be clearly understandable by all, but I think that it can be challenging for many people who do not write computer code to understand it. wink Basically, whatever text you enter after post= will appear in the sticker after the string "International Order of Odd Fellows,"

PS - There was some additional [extra] verbiage in the sticker text that I removed a couple of minutes ago.

Thanks again Ellen for your explanation, I kind of understand. Sooo, for our ladies to get into their "category" could you not make  o n e  more sticker,  with say the string "Daughters of Rebekah - I.O.O.F." (to keep it short)  and with the,  |post=   's, part?  That would separate it from the other IOOF stickers.   You would use the same IOOF image  (ignoring the internal IOOF change history).    Just asking. I would like  Mr. Barrett"s input on that.

I have now differentiated Rebekahs in the sticker template (see the last example on Template:Society Member). A woman whose sticker has |society=Rebekah will be categorized in the Daughters of Rebekah category, and if a Rebekah Lodge is identified in the sticker parameters, its name will show up in the sticker. However, if no lodge is identified, the sticker will only call her a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (same as for a man).

thank you, Thank You,  THANK YOU !   If it wasn't for COVID I'd say just about everything is right with the world again. You've made not only my day but my Month!  So now I can start updating those profiles I've had sitting on a side burner.

The organization is: Independent Order of odd Fellows - which has: Odd Fellows lodges - so as example one would belong to Wildey Lodge No. 1; and Rebekah Lodges and one would belong to Colfax Rebekah Lodge No. 1 - the three links as an emblem is good for both.
