According to the connection finder, I'm between 30 and 46 steps from all of them, but there is a WikiTreer who is a famous (or maybe infamous) foodie that's not on that list.

I don't know what the connection finder would say about steps, but I know <ref name="personal experience" /> that I can be connected by 1 click to Eddie King, who always finds well sourced impossible-to-find information and talks about his need for good food to reward himself for his hard work.

Today, I'm making a prawn salad sandwich, French onion soup, hearts-of-palm steamed lightly in raspberry vinaigrette, and for dessert, raspberry infused cheesecake. I need this sustenance as I'm starting my second novel today, wherein I parallel the development in the 1930s of Nazi Germany and the New York Mafia through the main character Reuben Slade/Sladek, honest NYC cop, Jewish, childhood friend of Bugsy Siegel, and WW2 soldier who attends the Nuremberg trials

I'm 18 degrees from Gustava Björklund, which surprised me at first but that comes from her (somewhat illicit) connection to the Bernadotte family. Next is Mapie de Toulouse-Lautrec, and interestingly, both connections run through the Clary family.

Anthony Bourdain is very far (at 38 degrees) in spite of his French origins. He was only connected (with some difficulty) through the marriage of one of his migrating cousins.

8th cousin 4x removed with Julia Child. The type of connection is mindblowing and goes well with a nice brandy.

62 degrees Wow !  How did it get back that far ?
The 62 degrees come not from great depth (this goes about 7 generations back) but from many lateral steps through spouses and siblings.   See https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Special:Connection&action=connect&person1Name=Van_Oudheusden-22&person2Name=Fulton-2992&relation=0&ignoreIds=

and click for the Generational Path view.
My ancestors aren't very well connected it seems. I've so far only found one connection to the shared tree, which is via [[Van_Neck-15]], which was created by [[North-1355]], who is only 18 steps distant. Perhaps others will turn up, since I could add Dutch links all day thanks to Dutch online records.

P.S. How do you make links in the forum? [ and [[ don't work.
I found another connection directly to the UK, so my closest is now a tie of 31 degrees from  Gustafva Bjorklund, Marie-Pierre de Toulouse-Latrec, and Julia Child, and the longest is 48 degrees from Anthony Bourdain.
It is odd how the bracket-style links don't work here, but you can use the link icon (looks like a chain link) to make one.  There's a box for text you want to be clickable and one for the link.

Thanks, so they can be done as full URLs, like Van_Neck-15 and North-1355. The underlying syntax is invisible.

Full disclosure - I don't like Brussels sprouts.

Julia Child is my 8th cousin once removed through our common ancestor Samuel Packard, born 1612, Stonham, England.

Julia gained notoriety in her 50's. I give her a lot of credit for this alone.

Me either on the brussels sprouts Marilyn, but one steak house here crispy fries them in balsamic and then they're not bad at all.
I would imagine that if you deep fry them in balsamic, that could make them edible.!

Julia Child is a 17-degree connection, and a 9th cousin twice removed on a rather different path.  The MRCA is Edward Gilman III from the Puritan Great Migration.

I relate more the "spy" part of her life than the "chef" part, though I'm sure I would have ended up in some grey room trying to break encryption algorithms or analyze messages, rather than chasing bad guys in an Aston-Martin or even collecting intelligence in the field.  In fact, from what I can see Julia seems to be better described as a security analyst than a spy.  Of course even the declassified files now available can be expected to describe the most exciting jobs in the blandest terms, so perhaps she saw more action than we know.

I am 20 degree's from Julia Child - which is kind of funny (peculiar) because my paternal grandmother Judy Van Vliet Cook loved her and it just so happens that I'm connected to Julia Child through my grandmother and my grandmother's name is really Julia (although she preferred Judy).

And I'm also 20 degree's from Loralee Hutton, through my maternal grandmother's line.
