Hello all, I’ve been doing ancestry since I seen Ant and Dec do there’s on the telly! They got me addicted to it. I’ve hit many brick walls but my biggest one is that of my great grandfather William Gilbert, I have ordered his marriage certificate in the hole of finding him through his father....but found out his listed as deceased on the certificate, and his name was also William Gilbert! It’s such a common name and there are so many in the same area, I’m confused how I can find out for certain which one is my great grandfather?! He married violet Timms in 1919 in Meriden, he died 1937/8 at the general hospital in Birmingham (he died in 1937, but was registered in 1938) violet lived at 120 Streetsbrook road, Warwickshire in 1939 but obviously William had passed away by then, I need to see the 1921 census next year, I think that’s the only way I’m going to find out for sure where my great grandfather was! Unless anyone could kindly help me? I’ve had a few say there’ s a William Gilbert birth registered in Meriden 1882 (which would match up with the dates of the certificates I have, but then the marriage of that William doesn’t match up with my William marrying violet timms! I’m quite confused. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Julie
