PPP vanishes, then returns

Question

The PPP symbol on Prince Philip's profile is there when I look via the Private tab.  But when I look at the Public tab, it's gone.

Then, if I click on the link "This is what the public sees..." it's back again.

Please could it be made visible on the Public tab?

Ros, I don't know if this is either unique to Prince Philip's profile, or even if it is something recent ... but I think it is probably a good idea not to show PPP on the view seen by non-members.  It is not relevant to their experience of the profile, nor does it impact them in any way since they won't be editing the profile, and I think the only effect of it being there would be to confuse them about what it means and why it's there.

Profile is managed by a project. Profile is attributed to someone who has made a considerable contribution to society over his lifetime. Close on a dozen duplicates have been caught since Prince Philip's profile was created 9 years ago and it is possible other's may try to create a profile now that he has passed on. Why else do you think PPP was put in place?

Richard, I think you misunderstood me.  I am not suggesting that PPP be removed from the profile.  All we are talking about here is whether or not - and under what conditions - the PPP logo is displayed on the profile.  What I said is that, for the general public, I am in favor of not displaying, since it is not relevant for them - none of these viewers would have any opportunity to make any changes at all to the profile and the PPP logo is, therefore, meaningless to them and could only create confusion.

Yes, the PPP icon does not show to the public (logged-out members) since it's not something that affects them.

The "the is what the public sees" version is just an approximation of what the profile will look like -- members will still see some extra tabs and menu items and won't see ads.
