Ichabod Gibbs was born in 1826 in Alburg, Grand Isle, Vermont. He was the son of Samuel Gibbs & Amy Babcock. He married Mary Jane Race December 29, 1849 and they had three children. A Carlos Gibbs b.abt1850-d.1910. Mary May Gibbs b.abt Nov.1850-d.1917. Evaline Abidine Gibbs b.1853-d.1924. He died on November 25, 1858 in Bangor, Franklin, New York

His widow remarried his civil war brother John who was serving in the civil war. Ichabod is buried in same cemetery with his father and grandfather. How did Ichabod die? Was it due to a farming accident? He died before the civil war; however some family thought he died in the war. Maybe illness or disease? I’m having a hard time finding any sources for him!

Is there any more sources for him such as a birth or death record? Any furthered sources would be great.

Thank you

Note: The gravestone engraving seems to have valuable info but it’s not legible from the photo

Birth: He is probably the First born child of Samuel Gibbs and Amy Babcock.

Death: age at death abt. 32 yrs
