To find adoption records for my adopted brother, Ladd Douglas Britten

+3 votes
Ladd Douglas Britten was adopted by Charles and Blanche Britten, in 1924 in Bedford, Nova Scotia. I was born in 1938 to my parents, Charles and Blanche Britten, and I never inquired about Douglas's origins prior to adoption in their lifetimes. Is there any means to acquire this information after so many years? I am now 83.

Here's a link to the Nova Scotia adoption information page:  Adoption Disclosure | Nova Scotia Department of Community Services

The Nova Scotia adoption law says that "under certain circumstances" relatives other than the parent or child may obtain information, so it seems like it might be possible.  I would use the contact information on that page as a starting point.  Your brother was adopted almost 100 years ago, however, so there may not be any useful information.
