Okay here it goes this photo is of my mother' mother; my mother's, mother's mother; my mother's, mother's, mother's mother and my mother's sister. If that was hard to follow it is my grandmother (Edith), great grandmother Hettie), great great grandmother (Texanna), and my aunt Lois. That is 4 generations of wonderful women. Texanna Jordan my 2x great grandmother is sitting in the chair. I will be working on her profile this week. She was born in 1861 in Texas and died on 14 March 1939 in Denton County, Texas. (Jordan-8988) I had done so much research on her that I actually got tears in my eyes when I found this picture.

A great find Stacie!  I think that that is about as far back as I can go is a 2nd Great Grandmother too.  Great family photo!  Thanks for posting it!
Stacie, my g-grandmother was also called Hettie!
Stacie,  I studied 'til I got my mind around the 'mothers'.......I did get sidetracked for awhile on our own family's, 'Texas Bob', nicknamed so, to tell all the Bobs apart......Texanna caught my attention and I realized she had lost her parents at a young age......she is truly special along with her other 'mothers'.

I have 2 mother's, my birth mom Lois Elaine Laurin and my living second mother Sarah Cook

Sarah's picture is not showing. It is probably privacy protected. Here are some instructions for posting it so we can all see it.

Keith.....I find a touching story behind your two mothers.....and, I must also include Lois' mother, Doris, in acknowledgement for this coming Mother's Day.
Yes, thank you John. And I've always found it interesting that Doris died 11 days after my mother was born and my mother died when I was 1 1/2 years old, neither my mother or me knew our mothers.

We can't see your picture. Here are some instructions for posting it.

Thank you, Joyce for helping WikiTreers learn how to post photos. You are always so nice about it too!!

Thanks for the suggestions Joyce.

The original image did contain a link to a private profile which I had removed. Perhaps the link I copied was still pointing to the file that contained that?

Copied the link again and it is now displaying laugh

Simon, it looks like you sister is the only one not happy in this photo! cheeky

Very true laugh

My mom, age 91, at a 180 combined years celebration (dad was 89).

Mom died two Decembers ago. I cannot tell you how many time I’ve been working on a profile the past year and a half and thought, “I need to ask Mom about this.” I’ll never get over her not being here.

by Pip Sheppard G2G Astronaut (2.7m points)
I see the wine glass there and it reminds me of my Mom's 90th birthday party, at which there were only two guests (myself and my wife). Neither my wife nor I drink, but my Mom really enjoyed the specialty mixed drink that she had at our party. I think it was probably the only alcohol that she'd had during her last couple of years.
Yep, wine was the only alcoholic beverage she would ever drink, and that sparingly. We had about 40 people at this gathering three years ago.

Mom was the last of her family to go. What a wonderful life she lived! Thanks for your comment, Marc.
Thank you Pip for sharing the photo of your lovely mother. I especially like seeing her looking so spunky in her red top, scarf and earrings.
Very elegant Pip!  A tragic loss for you and the family I know! But at least we have all of these beautiful memories and pnotos to keep them close to our hearts!  She's just beautiful!

Pip,  I was enjoying getting to know your mother better and noticed that as an elementary  school teacher she shared the same with my mother.......then, I noticed she is a cousin, of my father, through Richard Croft and, then again, she is a cousin of Kathy's mother, Margaret, through Richard Croft. smiley

Thanks, Cousin John!

I am an only child, and was raised in New York City. After finishing up my schooling, I moved to California. When my Dad retired, my parents moved to Hawaii. When my wife and I's first child was a toddler, my mother Jeanne Marie (Ringgold) Roddin and Dad came to visit. The photo shows how excited my Mom was to hold her grandson in his bedroom one morning when he was getting up.

by Marc Roddin G2G1 (1.2k points)
You can see the thrill on her face in this photo, Marc.
No doubt about it Marc...grand parents love to see their grandchildren!  My mom once told me that it was because they didn't have to see my messy room and put up with my sarcastic mouth!  Ha!  She was right!  Who knew?

This is my Mum Irene she is on the right hand side and her cousin Chrissy.  You can find her profile Here They were the best friends of but lost touch many years ago when Chrissy moved to America.  Genealogy brought them back together through their daughters myself and Larnie both of whom are here on WikiTree.  Sadly I lost mum to recurrent breast cancer in Dec 2020.  She was as bright right up until the week she died as she was in this picture.  Everyday I still go to pick up the phone to tell her some new fact I have found.

Jackie, I feel for you, having lost my mom a year before your loss. What a great smile in this pic.

Here ya go Jackie!  When you post a photo in the comment window, make sure you replace the width in the little window where you put the image, with 500!  Erase what is there and type in 500.  (I just wrote this comment in the window, now I click on the mountain and sun icon above this window...enter the url of my image and before you close the image properties box (where you put the image) look at the left side and you will see dimension boxes.  Replace the width dimension that is there when you click on it and put in 500 and click on OK.  I think when you click on the width box, your image is 1064..highlight 1064 and replace it with 500, which is the max size you can use.  Here it is!

Now, try it on your photo above.  Edit your comment, double click the image and follow the directions above, like replace what is in the little width box with 500 and hit OK!  Very simple, just a learning curve for everyone!

Thank You so much Scott.  Everyday is a school day
Especially on wikitree..!!! It took me a long long time to get it correct...posting pics on G2G.  Repetitio est mater studiorum!
Hello Jackie, So sorry that you lost your beautiful Mom. I lost my Mom in 2015. I want to ask her questions about cousins, the answers to which will need to be ascertained using other means.

The photo is very funny. Yours is another success story about how genealogy brings families together again.

This is a pic of My maternal grandmother, Lillian Pearl Denton Williams and my mother , Shirley Ann Williams Isleman , my grandmother died in 1953 of cancer , my mother was only 17 , she was the oldest of 6 , my mother died in 2011 of cancer as well , I wish I had gotton to meet my grandmother , my mother use to tell me and my brothers stories of my grandmother , and what it was like for my mother growing up , as I grew up in San Diego California , but did move to Tennessee where my mother's family is from when I was a teen

by Janine Isleman G2G6 Pilot (102k points)
Your mother was a cutie!  Janine...the beaches of San Diego or the hills and valleys of Tennessee?  Which is it?
That is hard question to answer, I do miss the Beach, but San Diego is not just known for its beaches , there is desert and mountains nearby to explore as well , I do miss California but Tennessee has its perks as well , also my dad was from Ohio which I have visited quite a few times , our family as I was growing up would visit back east as they would say in the west , so i got to see alot of places where my ancestors came from ,

This is a photo of my mother Mary Jane Bowers Fagundus (Jane) at our home in Basking Ridge NJ. From the colors of the room and the look of the refrigerator I would place it in the 1950's or the very early 60's. To me it is an iconic photo of the suburban housewife of that time period.

Here's a picture of my proud mother with her idol, Arnold Palmer, at a Golf Tournament in Hawaii.  She was his cart driver for the 4 day tournament.

One great moment for mom for sure Brad!
Brad, this is soooo cool! Arnold Palmer, a hero of mine, too!

So, this photo was over the size of 500 when I first looked at it and then I just clicked on the link under it ''answered'' and it changed the size to 500.  That was interesting.  Those backyard summer days in the sprinkler were one of my favorite times with my brother and cousins!  Thanks for sharing Brad!

This is a photo of my mother Leila Gurley taken around 1934 just before she married my Father.

by Jack Maddox G2G1 (1.4k points)
Thank you J for sharing your wonderful photo of your mother Leila. I was very taken by the photo and was not surprised when I saw it was likely taken in Kansas. I have a very similar photo taken of my Aunt Ruth Long Van Meter. I always thought it was taken in Kansas City, but it could be Wichita. It has the same dark background and colored cheeks. Mine is not as clear, since I scanned it from my copy, and my daughter has the original 8x10 framed at her house. Glad you have such a great photo of your beautiful mother.

I am happy that you enjoyed the picture.  It was most likely taken in McPherson, Kansas maybe Hutchinson, Kansas.

This photo is of my mum and 5 of the 6 kids.

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Rodgers-4970

I'm on the front left, I don't know where my other sister was and I'm guessing my mum didn't know either which may explain why she seems to be looking for inspiration from above.

We were a rather unruly bunch, any time we went anywhere we were counted before the leaving the house and before our return home, just to make sure there wasn't anyone missing or anyone extra, we occasionally did end up with extra kids especially when my dad who was an absent minded professor type was in charge. This was taken about 2 years before we emigrated to Canada.

M, I love your ballet pose.
Pip, I hadn't thought about how I was standing, I did take ballet for several years, it's almost but not really an open fourth position.

I shared a picture of my mom holding me, just days old. I refrained from sharing the one where she is sarcastically pointing out her baggy eyes from being tired.

Louise (Pflughoeft) Huggins Wedding Photo

This is my mother's wedding picture from 1 June 1941. Before her marriage to my father, she had a professional career working in several banks in Kansas during the 1930s. She was actively involved the the Business and Professional Women's Club of Kansas, serving a term as treasurer of the state organization. She continued her career after her marriage working in other banks and as a bookkeeper for various organizations.

by Marvin Huggins G2G Crew (410 points)
Marvin, your mom must have been one special lady, having a career during a time when women were looked at as being out of place in professional circles back then. My hat's off to her.
I have always been proud of her! Although she did not go to high school, in the 1920s she attended a small Lutheran co-educational school, Saint John's College in Winfield, Kansas, which had a Business Department that trained her for her career.

It ran in the family. In the 1940 census she was living with her widowed mother, a sister who was a nurse and a niece who worked as a telephone operator--three professional women in one household in a small Kansas town!

Mom Dressed to the Nines

This is a photo of my mom all dressed up to go somewhere. Maybe church? I’m told she was about 12 in this picture, which would make it somewhere around 1945. She would marry my father 7 years later and have 5 kids, me being the last. She passed away in March 2015, 2 weeks before her 82nd birthday. Happy Mother’s Day in Heaven mom!

by Lori Alma G2G6 (6.3k points)
Thanks for that, Joyce! Actually I realized something went wrong after I posted this and didn’t think it even went through! So I reposted with the picture... you can see it on page 3 :)
