Trying to trace my biological fathers' family tree. Any history is very welcome.

Fred Schofield, born UK in 1920's

Married Audrey Hellewell around 1950, mother's name, Doris Hellewell whom migrated to Australia around 1960

2 children, Pamela 1952, and Graham 1954

Migrated to Australia,Sydney on the SS Georgic , 1955

It would be great to put a bit of history together for my own family, and for my own curiosity.

Fred is his only given name. My memory is not that good any more, but I did clearly remember this on my sisters birth certificate. His birth date and place are forgotten and pics and certs and docs lost in fires some years ago.

My grand-daughter is trying to collate the history of Schofield/Hellewell side of her (my) family.

All I know is, he was a professional plumber and migrated to OZ, Sydney 1955, and rumoured to have moved/migrated to Port Moresby PNG as a licensed plumber soon after. PNG records of that period are no longer available.

My sister and I were born in Sowerby Bridge.

My mother separated from him soon after arrival in Australia, so I never personally knew him.

Anonymous Woody has a good suggestion - to check the Fred born in Yorkshire - because, apart from emigration, most folk stayed around near where they were born, at least until marriage, or unless need for work took them away.

(I asked about the name because my dad was a Frederic, known as Fred; his grandfather was George known as Fred; and I have documented people whose births were registered as Fred, but they were known as Frederick (or other short name-long name combinations).)
