Dutch mini-challenge: connect our naval hero Karel Doorman to the tree and add his ancestry

Question

Looking into the subjects for the connection finder for the coming weeks the next big one - after the ghosts - will probably be military heroes. Karel Doorman  is a well known one who didn't have a profile on wikitree yet. So we started one.

Karel Doorman was Schout bij Nacht/Rear Admiral of the Combined forces of the US, Great Britain, Australia and the Netherlands Marine in Southeast Asia in 1942. He died during the Battle of the Java sea. He went to the bottom of the sea with his ship when it was torpedoed by the Japanese.

I hope you will not mind my suggestions beneath. You did not ask for it....... So I am giving you some unasked. I had no clue how to add links at G2G for a long time. But is working the same as at G-mail: find the link icon (chain icon). Click the chain icon and add the link of the webpage.

To add links to G2G is not so complicated if you know how to!  

If you open an answer or comment or reply window at G2G you see all the editing icons in the work bar, not sure about how the work bar should be/ is named,  above right?

Like font, size, normal, etc.

You also see the for last line? In the middle the chain icon shows. You see it. Just open an answer/reply/comment window at G2G.

I add an image.

As you opened the answer/reply/comment window: Copy the link at WWW (WhoWasWho or WieWasWie) by clicking at the transcription page at WWW: "Copy URL" or in Dutch "Kopieren URL". Copy the link.

Go back to the answer/reply/comment window here. Find the chain icon back at top as shown in the image above and click it. Add the URL you copied from WWW to the URL bar that shows up in the next window. Just try. I am sure you will get it. And after doing it a few times it is easy.

I use Ancestry Library Edition which is FREE and I'm a conservative-minded guy, economically. I need the majority of my money for fooooooood. Being 6 feet 4 inches tall, I eat a lot.

Keep your money! WT is free (as long as you stay to the rules of WT:add reliable sources). But you know!

Hmm need at 6 feet 4 inches a  convertor to European measures. But I think we are about the same size.

Tell me more about Ancestry Library Editions. Not knowing what that is or means.

I am not rich but lucky not to be poor either. But  I hate I have to pay big money to see info or need to see info about  MY ancestors by paying big of getting some "Golden Membership" at any genealogy site. That is why I am here.

During the COVID virus crisis, many American libraries have uplinked their free Ancestry Library Edition so folks can use it temporarily at home. But my Library Edition is permanent  - because I research for jewishgen and also research for various things re my PhD and those associated with it. PhD in Fine Arts. I will send you the link and password to my free Library Edition. Please feel free to use it.

Eef did you use Eddies adds/findings here to add info at the profile of Karel? Or did you find the wedding and divorce links yourself.

If you followed Eddy's links I think it is nice to add that to the links. Recognistion to the finder. If so I will add in the hyperlink somewhere between <ref> and </ref>  somewhere at the end: found by [[King-21644|Eddie King]], just to share credits.  At some Projects that is guideline. I think it is a good way to show how made the effort. We Dutch do not need that. As we are very sober in that kind of things. But I think it is always a good thing to show credtis.

I have to torture people in g2g because I don't have a television for entertainment and my neighbors are quiet, respectable people which equals boring  so I torment here and in my online novel writing group at Scribophile and watch old monster movies in archive.org on the internet.

De biogafie heeft nog wat meer info over zijn militaire beroepsleven nodig. Verder ziet het er prima uit dankzij de bijdragen van diverse mensen. Karel heeft aardig  wat voorouders gekregen, meer dan een verbinding met de boom en diverse foto's op zijn profiel. Ook zijn persoonlijke leven  (geboorte huwelijk en overlijden en scholing) en zijn onderscheidingen staan erop. Alleen dus nog zijn militaire carriere.
