I'm happy to have added and connected a few days ago the profile of Louis Joseph Gay-Lussac (1778-1850), notable French scientist.
In addition of being "notable", his family provides interesting connections over the Atlantic. His son Louis Frédéric Gay-Lussac (1813-1903) married to Adélaïde Marie (aka Adelma) Trudeau, daughter of Lt. Col. René Trudeau (1784-abt.1846).
The marriage according to secondary sources I've found in France took place in New Orleans, on Dec 16, 1839. Hope someone with easy access to New Orleans records will find a primary source and extra information about this marriage.
Back in France, Louis Frédéric built in his family village at Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat, a Louisiana-style mansion, called Bas-Soleil, where both Adelma and himself ended lived out the rest of their lives (thx Gillian for clarification).
Any addition to this story viewed from Louisiana would be great.
[edited for links : forgot that WikiLinks do not work in G2G ...]
Bas-Soleil can be seen, along with how it was passed to posterity, and an episode of French Resistance which took place there during WWII. Page en Français : http://museedelaresistanceenligne.org/media7290-PropriA.
