I found his WikiTree profile managed by you....

Here is a Pedegree Rescource File for James at ancestry.  It shows the parents you have posted.

Does any of this help?  Would you like me to find more records?

If Martha Copeland Wimberly had siblings, these could be a couple records you want to have.....

Sally (Copeland) Hicks

Mary Evelyn Gielianin

The father for James that you have connected is John Mcwilliams.

Here is a tree at FamilySearch.  It is one of many.

It cites these sources....

  1. 1880 United States Federal Census Ancestry.com and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
  2. Ancestry Family Trees
  3. 1870 United States Federal Census
  4. 1850 United States Federal Census
  5. 1860 United States Federal Census

Most records seem to show James' mother as Nancy Anna Bordon.  I see no mention of Hancock yet.

This looks like it could be the marriage of John and Nancy.

This is a portion of a posting on RootsWeb.  The information fits what you have posted, and there is more...

"Sequatchie Valley Bible Records" that listed a Bible of Samuel McWilliams. This printed copy listed Andrew McWilliams as being born in 1760 and death in 1886. Obviously these dates are incorrect....

..... John McWilliams son James. The
Bible lists the following: John McWilliams born 30 of July 1798, died 20 of Jan 1881; Anna McWilliams born 15 of Feb 1801, died Mar 31 1878; their son James born 23 of Oct 1824. A notation in different handwriting said died Mar 23 - 1892

We have McWilliams giving us a headache also , grandmother was Elsie McWilliams b 1895 her father William McWilliams 1864 dropped the Mc, he is also known as James William McWilliams,  we then have John McWilliams 1825, from Ireland.  now his marriage says father is Charles McWilliams Labourer,  Charles is hard to find . Are these any of your McWilliams. Any help please.
