An ancestor fought with Francis Marion in the American Revolution, but I don't know who [closed]

There's a legend in my family about Solomon David Kerbo (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Kerbo-15) fighting with and getting his life saved by Francis Marion, the Swamp Fox, in the American Revolution. But Solomon was born in 1776 when the revolution started, so it couldn't have been him.

I believe the legend is true for a close relative of Solomon like a brother or a father, but so far haven't found anything. So, I'm looking for a Kerbow/Curbo/Curbow/Kerbo/Kerby/Corbo/etc who fought in the American Revolution with Francis "Swamp Fox" Marion. Can anyone help or give me ideas on where to look?

My ancestor was with the Delaware line and taken prisoner in South Carolina by the British. Francis Marion freed 150 British prisoners in 1780 my grandfather was in the group. He continued to serve with Francis Marion until the end of the war.

I hope this information is helpful.  I did some quick research online and found a link for you:

sciway3.net/proctor/revwar/swampfox.html

It has several links within it from his bio, to a list of "those that fought with him".

Yes! I found James Kirby on that list. Kirby is a known alternate name of Kerbow. The source pointed me to a book "History of the Old Cheraws" by Alexander Gregg. James Kirby is listed to have fought in 1782 about the time the revolution ended. Solomon did have a brother James Kerbow born about 1771. So James was around 12 when he started fighting in the revolution.

Thank you!
Glad I could help!
