Roll of honor

I have checked the major subject; it seems not to be interested in general with  "members of the military."  Belonging to a military family and being or having been one seems to be an overlooked issue.  Being one myself and belonging to a family which has had military members going back to well before the American Rebvolution is definitely a prideful issue with this family.  I propose the addition of a "General Military Member" category - or at least some consideration of this issue - to the "Roll of Honor."  This way there will be a super category for those of us who have info about service and no info of specifics.  Thanks for your consideration.

Hi James,

I added the Roll of Honor project tag to your post so that people in the project are more likely to see this. You may want to contact the leader of the project, Terri, directly to collaborate on setting up a category structure.

James,

Recognition of military service is important.  (See my profile)

One of the key issues with the use of categories is limiting them to a resonable number of members.  Resonable is hard to define but it is probably less than 100,000 or so.

This is one reason that templates for military are encouraged.

Robert William Husser  is one example of a military template -

see  Template:Veteran Recognition  for use and options.

For Civil War it is possible to add the individual unit - that has not been developed for other wars - perhaps it could be - a lot of work - interested?

I have been adding specific units as I can, and especially what ship they were on.  I would do more, but I need a lesson on military organization....maybe I'll call my son.
