Scottish researcher challenge - link these two Deans ancestors

Question

I am descended from Thomas Deans551 who was born in Dumfriesshire Scotland abt Oct 1823.  My paternal grandmother Katherine Deans549 always insisted there was a distant relationship with another Deans family who had  also settled in Christchurch NZ.  They are descended from John Dean360 b abt 1769 at their family property Riccarton in Ayreshire Scotland.  The Scottish census has both families living about 50 miles apart with their respective farms and employees.  I have not found any sources to link these two families, therein lies the challenge.  Scottish researchers, are you up for it?!

There appears to be some misunderstanding. We are members of WT who are here researching our own family trees which takes a tremendous amount of time and research, not to mention helping to make WikiTree the best. May I challenge you to join the Scotland Project, ask how, and be shown where to research your relatives. Besides the fact that your relatives profiles appear to be mixed up. Thanks David, you are right Deans 551, the error arising from a combination of my bad writing and being in too much of a hurry.  I have edited my question.

Several of my cousins here in NZ and the UK (York) have spent years putting together the 500 plus family  relationships we know about, and recently I have been transferring that all to WikiTree piecemeal. Thank you for the tip on Scottish People, I have already used that to get as far back as I have with the Deans connection.

My shout out to Scotland researchers was to try and find sources pre 1800.
