Henry Luce from Martha's Vineyard Genealogy Book QUESTION

Hi Folks,

I apologize if this is posted twice.  I think I may have broken the rules by adding myself to the question (linking a living person to the question)...anyway, my question is in regards to the Luce family genealogy book American Descendants of Henry Luce of MA.

I am a Luce and I very clearly recall my folks contributing to this book when I was a child.  I found one version here: https://familysearch.org/search/catalog/735067?availability=Family%20History%20Library that contains my grandfather (Lorin D. Luce d. 1975 son of Franklin Warren Luce ) and indicates my father as his child.

I checked out what I assumed was the most up-to-date and thorough version of this book from openlibrary.org and my grandfather wasn't even in the book.

Our Luce lineage is 100% accurate and it's a direct male line to Henry Luce, so i'm really curious why this version (which seems to be the most "up to date" doesn't include our family?

I'm wondering if there's an actual "up to date" version of this book, and how I can access it?

Thanks so much!

Kitrina, You didn't say which volume your grandfather was in.  It appears that the only volume on OpenLIbrary is volume 3 of 4. Perhaps he was in a different volume?

My Grandfather, Lorin D. Luce is in V III, I'll look again in the openlibrary.org version, but I searched twice and didn't find him. I was also surprised my dad  wasn't specifically named in the book, he would be generation 11, and while I know a child's memory is fallible, I do recall we contributed to this book back in the day.

All of this made me think that maybe there's some other volumes of the book out there or a more thorough version someone might have.

*If* this book on openlibrary.org is incomplete and used regularly by genealogists, that's unfortunate.  But, I will triple check this and make sure I just didn't miss something! The openlibrary.org version was confusing to me because the table of contents seemed to indicate it was the complete V1-V4 + addendum, there was also a whole series of "revisions" posted.  I'm just not sure which "version" to use or is widely accepted as "the" final document?

Kind regards,

Kit
