My 4th great grandfather Thomas Bibb was 2nd governor of Alabama and his brother William Bibb was the first governor of Alabama. How can I place a template on their profiles like the one on Thomas McKean? And should I have some one too project protect them? Thanks

To Project Protect a profile, it needs to be part of a Project.  This protection is to identify and protect the lowest number Last Name At Birth (LNAB).  This is done to identify which profile all other duplicates will be merged into if and when found.  It keeps it from being merged away.  Note that this does not prevent anyone from editing the profile as this is still a Wiki.

I believe you are refering to this succession box. It is a special type of template and you might consider completing the links of Alabama Governors with it.

You can find this info in the Help dropdown menu on the upper right.

Here is the coding from Thomas McKean.  You can grab it by clicking on the edit box and scrolling down to the Succession box 2 heading or grab it here.

You will need to replace the flag image

Double check to see if some of the other Alabama govenors are in Wikitree and possibly have this template already.

Maureen's suggestion puts the profile in the Category for Alabama Govenors.  This is a great suggestion, please do so.  Then you can check the category for all the other Govenors that need linked in the succession box.  However...just now checking, there are no entries so yours will be the first.
