Would you like to join the American Revolutionary War (1776) Project? [closed]

Question

Do you have ancestors who participated in the American Revolutionary War?  Do you have an interest in the historical aspects of this war?  If so, we are looking for new members to join.

Project recognition (and Wikitree member participation) is not limited to the soldiers and civilians who fought for American independence - this project recognizes service from all nationalities including British, French, Spanish, Native American, and others.

Welcome to the 1776 Project

The requirements to join are that your account is at least 1 month old, you have a minimum of 100 Wikitree contributions, and that you join one of the project's teams:

When you post your answer, please specify what team you want to join and after you have been added to the project and received your badge, please sign up to the Google Group and be sure to include your Wikitree ID in your join request.

Would like to join the American Revolutionary War (1776) Project.  Joined the Sons of the American Revolution 48 years ago.  Helped establish/reestablish 3 state societies of the Sons of the Revolution & Society of the War of 1812.   Currently serving in my 44th year as a Registrar of the Sons of the Revolution.  Have served as a Registrar in 7 different lineage societies. Membership in SR, SAR, and  Loyalists & Patriots.  More than a dozen other lineage societies from the Order of the Crown to the Sons of Confederate Veterans.  Can assist in working on preparing proper documentation for joining a Lineage Society.

Interested in joining the 1776 project. My 5th Great Grandfather John Whelan joined the Connecticut Militia under Captain John Skinner during 1776. Payroll documentation identifies him as receiving the sum of 10.00 for his travel expenses for the 120 mile trip to join up. John was captured "when not in arms" by the British at Otter Creek in 1779 and taken to a POW camp in Montreal from where he was released after the war. My 4th Great Grandfather Eli Whelan is documented as signing up in 1812 for the war. Shortly there after he was injured. He died of his injuries after returning home in 1814.

I like would like to join. My 6th great grandfather, Col. Stephen Hunt, fought in New Jersey. I am a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Stephen Hunt is my Patriot. I am researching several other many times grandparents to add as supplemental Patriots who have not been proven by the DAR  yet and others that have been. One is a female. I can help with the proven ancestors and need information on the unproven.

Yes, I would love to join the 1776 Project! I am a DAR member under John Stewart ancestor #A109562  who served under Captain James Grier and Col James Chambers. I also have 5 other g grandfather patriots who served in the Revolutionary War.

Recognizing all of my Patriots has been on my bucket list for a while, and this will spur me on.  I am a 54 yr member of DAR, joining on David Blackshear, and I am remiss at not tending to the others over time.  A chance to post some stickers!!

I would love to join this project, and have a special interest in my ancestors contributions to the American Revolution. I have plans to join my local DAR chapter when they start meetings again soon, as my mother was an active member in the past through our patriot, William Drumright.

I don't know if this would be helpful, but I have a connection to the American Revolution through marriage. My paternal gg-grandfather was married twice. His second wife was Angeline Peck. I would like to join the American Revolutionay War Project. There are a number of ancestors in my lines that already have the 1776 sticker on their profiles, but I need to make sure the categories are appropriate as well. I love to improve profiles and write biographies. Currently I have a personal goal to complete on the US Southern Colonies Project / Jamestown Team, but I would like to work on a 1776 team once that is winding down.

I have at least 3 Patriot ancestors and as research goes on possibly 1 more. I am not a DAR member because my mother was adopted and they only recognize male DNA evidence. Still working on it.
