Hi Ann! It looks like you've already uploaded a GEDCOM. If so, you will now have to process your GEDCompare report. I hope you didn't make it all 3000 individuals because it does take a while to check all the potential matches in a GEDCompare report. So a smaller GEDCOM upload of around 100 individuals is preferable. Once you have examined all potential matches and either accepted or rejected the matches, the "ADD" buttons will become active next to each individual for whom you did not have matches already in WikiTree. You will then add each individual by clicking the "ADD" button. When the profile is created, the data will be pre-filled. Unfortunately, the "biography" which is generated from a GEDCOM is messy. It will have to be cleaned up removing some unnecessary stuff (referred to a "junk"), formatting sources, and so on.

I tried this when I first started on WikiTree but I quickly found I disliked the clean-up process and did not feel it saved me any time over adding profiles manually. As Brian said, because WikiTree emphasizes sourcing and accuracy, everything you add needs to be checked at some point anyway.

Whichever method you choose, I wish you all the best as you grow your branch of our WikiTree.

I understand the importance of your request. The thing is we want to be accurate and have the sources as best we can. This means a re checking as you enter the facts and information. Doing a "on block" input means you might bring in errors or inaccuracies.

I have used the "one at a time" input to verify before completing.

If its all inputted at once what are you going to do?

By the way its a lot of work to correct batches ! I had over 350 to correct.! Thats the danger of batches.

Sit back and do a few at a time after checking and making sure the person is not there already.

As you input you will get credit in the contributions each month.

Take your time savour the moment pick up links and meet people. Its not a  " Human race" its a "family tree"...

Think of it this way: You have 3000 persons., each with a story that deserves to be remembered. As you add each person to Wikitree, you can tell their story. You can add a sticker, a little symbol of something important in their life. (Here are some examples.) Perhaps you will find other people who lived in the same town, sailed on the same ship, fought in the same battle, or had the same occupation. Weekly questions will give you a chance to share their stories with the rest of us. (This week's question is, an ancestor who fits the theme, "bridge" ) Have fun.
