There are thousands of unsourced profiles all over Wikitree. Many can be found at http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Unsourced_Profiles but there are lots of other ones. Perhaps in you own watchlist.

Can you source, one or more unsourced profiles today. Pick one, any one. Give it a source or two. Then report the ID here.

Your prizes -

(1) satisfaction

(2) you get extra G2G points for commenting or answering

(3) A big thank you from me and the rest of the community.

If you can't find a source for say one piece of data use {{citation needed}}

I did Thomas Staples-208 and proposed merges for duplicates
Did an easy one: Hill-13069. I had all the research already, but was not paying attention when I created these profiles awhile back and really needed a good excuse to go back and get them properly sourced and updated. Plus someone asked on another question. ;)
I did Martha Patsy Bond (Brown-22588). Found her in the DAR files.

Got inspired and added a daughter and her spouse from the same DAR file.
Thanks for the challenge Anne.  I added a source for

http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Turner-8652
I did Josiah Deming-100, his wife Steele-459, and all the little Demings (6) and an uncle and cousin. Sourcing an entire family is not hard with the right source.
Nice bunch of sources Scott, Thank you.

J. Tyler, a source is a source even when it was easy. Thank you.

Peter, that source looks like a lucky find. Thank you
I found one source for Margaret Lambert, but it's just a marriage, with no info but the names and the date. :/ (Lambert-688)

Also found a little something for Hannah (Freeman) Morris. Freeman-2079
J. Tyler, every little bit helps. Thank you.

I have been doing this daily lately, especially since getting Ancestors of American Presidents by Gary Boyd Roberts. I found a lot of people who are listed in this book, and were unsourced. Still working through it.

Thank you J. Salsbery. Whittle away one at a time. My day never goes by without sourcing several somethings.
I did Westendorf-87. Couldn't find any sources to support his birth date, but I found him and his wife on their sons' marriage records.
Thank you Jayme, that was a great way to confirm their existence as parents.
Gee, what about sourcing profiles that are NOT on your list? I did two or three of them yesterday, not to mention adding sources any time I'm working on a profile with no sources, flagged or not!
Ida R Pike-1790, found death record which included her parents' names, LNAB to Hammond needs to be changed to Hammond, I am not manager or on trusted list.  YAY!!
Way to go Robin. You set a great example for us all. Thank you.
Decided to look at my distant Malicote/Malicoat/Mallicoat roots. Turns out the name was derived from Medlicott. I sourced one of the oldest at http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Medlicoat-2. I'm working my way forward from there. Hoping to make a connection to my family. If not, that's ok also as its all for the greater good.
Good luck and thank you. Marty

Not much but I found his obit
Thank you, Jackie, That's great corroboration.
Wish I'd seen this earlier. I have been adding sources all day today to dozens of people. Spent about 7 hours or more dong it.  Mostly for Edward Harley Woodham Sr, his wife, and children.  Also for my father, mother, mother's parents, and others.
Thank you Carolyn for sourcing profiles. It's interesting this is an old question, that developed a new lease on life in the last few days. I like getting the opportunity to thank people.
I am going back page by page through three year's of hand written notes from my state archives research I did about 20 years ago, and adding sources as I find them. It's going to take awhile!
Added marriage record sources today for:

Green L Thompson (Thompson-20606), Licinda (Bailey) Thompson (Bailey-8978), Willim S Thompson9Thompson-20681), Eliza (Bailey) Thompson (Bailey-9014), Lewis D Thompson (Thompson-20682), Moruning (Bailey) Thompson (Bailey-9015).

Added Rev War pension record for Sherrod Thompson (Thompson-20614)

Off to do more.

Added marriage record sources for:

Wm M. Atkinson (Atkinson-1595)

Ursula E (Griffith) Atkinson (Griffith-942)

Eva (Williams) Atkinson (Williams-30334)

Charles T Atkinson (Atkinos-3473)

James C Atkinson (Atkinson-3472)

Ada (Williams) Atkinson (Williams-30333

Added will information from Thomas Atkinson's will to:

Patience (Chapin) Atkinson (Chapin-546)

Thomas Atkinson (Atkinson-1884)

Nathan Atkinson (Atkinson-3489)

Added DAR Index information to prove names of:

Nathan Atkinson (Atkinson-3489)

Martha Pasty(Whitehead) Atkinson (Whitehead-1002)

That's lots of Atkinson, Thompson and Baileys, that now have sources. Thank you.

Have been working on the Graham family. Going through editing and sourcing recently merged profiles. Have done today: Thornton-520, Flemming-60, Graham-235, Graham-220, Graham-245, and Graham-231. Have about ten more to do.

I found 3 for Ansel Beardsley, Beardsley-551
by Dale Byers G2G Astronaut (1.7m points)
Thank you Dale, That's quite an elaborate "achievement" the profile wears. I especially like the tassles. I took the {{unsourced}} off the profile, since he no longer is unsourced. I did leave the [[unsourced:Beardsley]] on in case the Beardslee one name wants to do more.
Added sources for Beardsley-1244 and Beardsley-544 and created a profile for his spouce.

Thank you, yes

That's mainly what I do each day.
by Doug Lockwood G2G Astronaut (2.6m points)
Me too, that and clean up other people's "messy" profiles. Thank you Doug.
Thanks, Anne B!,  I know mine need cleaning and I am trying to do it.  It helps me to know there are kind souls out there who might be helping!

I started working on the Elwell family from Massachusetts.  Many of these profiles are abandoned.  Making a 'little' headway.
by Chris Hoyt G2G6 Pilot (854k points)
Nice Job with John and Christian. When you're done with them, you can remove the "unsourced category". Thank you.

I sourced Coursen-214, also updated his date/place of birth and death.
by Anne Baker G2G4 (4.7k points)
Thank you Anne. As a bonus, answering the question brought it to the top and Erin added sourcing also.

I did Coyne-272.... She was married to actor Gene Kelly!  Was fun to read several things about her.  Pleasant little bonus to me!!!
by Anne Baker G2G4 (4.7k points)
Thank you again Anne. How interesting Jeanne married Gene. Must have been interesting answering their phone.

I added sources for Luther Carr, and created some profiles for his children who weren't already in WikiTree. If there is anyone researching Smith families who wants to continue branching off of this family, two of Luther's children (Stanton and Martha) married a Smith brother and sister: Lydia and Charles Smith, children of Joseph Smith and Mary Scott of Michigan.

Thank you for all the lovely sources Erin, and for adding his children.

Anne, I have a question.... I am looking at the list of profiles that need sources.  Since I am in Indiana, I thought I would look at some of those profiles.  This profile is on the list of those needing sources.

http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Holeman-40

When you go to that profile, there are some sources listed, but also, this profile is project protected.

Just wondering about why it would be on the list needing sources when there are several sources listed there?  Thanks for the help!!!

Anne
by Anne Baker G2G4 (4.7k points)
Thanks for asking.

I believe it was probably project protected to make sure that a merge between two different spellings took place in the correct direction. It can still be edited,  just not merged into another profile.

As for the source problem. The sources listed there are Ancestry tree sources, which are not strictly speaking a source. We are looking for better sources, such as. Birth & Death records, or census data.

Added a source for Abigail (Fiske) Locke (Fiske-659). Found her LNAB is NOT Fiske. I will check my Fiske sources to hopefully determine her correct LNAB. If successful, she will have at least 2 sources.
by Bob Keniston G2G6 Pilot (260k points)
Thank you Robert. I couldn't resist the hunt. Her maiden name was Richardson.

I added the info to the profile
I found 2 Jonathan Fiske, Abigail''s first husband. One married Abigail Fiske, a cousin, the other married an Abigail Lawrence. That makes 3 to pick from. Let's play "Name That Source". LOL
