Hi

Waines is my Grandmother's maiden name.  Most of my relatives came from the Buckton, Bempton and Driffield and Pickering areas.  I have uploaded my DNA.

My uncle Harold Dobson also married a Waines, Audrey who was related through marriage, I understand; her sister Pamela is still living in Flamborough/Bridlington as far as I know.  Harold had two children John and Sally, Sally had one daughter Zoe, who now has children of her own.

I know George Waines has done a fair bit of research on this side of the family too, he is on Wikitree,  I am mainly on MyHeritage.  This is what I have:

My grandmother

Mary Waines June 20 1901 -1972

Her parents

Francis William Waines 18 May 1870 - 27 July 1929 I have certs and photos and uploaded them into Wikitree.  He also had a brother Francis Henry Waines 1/10/1861 who died at only a few days old.

Eliza Tock 23 July 1874.  Marriage 17th April I have marriage, death cert, photos

His Parents

George 1836-1921

Mary Jane Cowton 1843 - ?

His Parents

Simeon Waines

Sarah Jane Gage

His Parents

Robert Waines 1792-1832

Mary Wellas

His Parents

Edward Waines 1740 - ?

Susannah Medd 1740 - 1771

All the evidence suggests, but  unable to confirm, George is not the son of Simeon Waines & Sarah Gage.

George's marriage certificate citing William Waines as father is part proof.

The 1841 census, is enlightening, in that George, Aaron(Adron) & Sarah are of ages years after Simeon's death, suggesting all three are grandchildren. Aaron's christening in 1840, the son of Elizabeth is proof of one.

Heading, the 1841 census is a William Waines, and by association and cicumstantial evidence, he & son George are living with Sarah, and Sarah raised George .

1851, George is a servant, but in 1861, now married, living again with Sarah. The down to this, George is described as son, but if she had raised him since very young, Sarah would see George more as a son than grandson.

Sorry I missed out William Waines 1815 - 1885, who is the missing link he was George's father and Simeon was his father.
