Wanting to identify and VERIFY the name of Matthias Goodrich's father

Question

My 7th generation grandfather was Matthias Goodrich b. circa 1750-57 and died 1813 in Warren Co., NC. He was married to Phoebe Cheek. They had 6 children: I descend from his son, William who married Jane Pettus. Silas Cheek married Mary Magdaline Stewart, Mary married Zebulon Jackson, "Betsey" married Edmund Weathers, Robert married unk and John married Jane unk. I have researched the Goodrich family from Virginia, starting with immigrant Thomas ( married Ann Thresh). I am hoping to verify the name of Matthais' father....who I believe was named William, due to family naming traditions....but unfortunately, this has not been verified. Any help is welcome!

I assume that the Thomas Goodrich you mentioned is Thomas Goodrich (bef.1615-bef.1679) | WikiTree FREE Family Tree They are not as well documented here as their Goodrich cousins  are, that went to Connecticut see William the Younger Goodrich (bef.1622-bef.1676) | WikiTree FREE Family Tree 

the only thing i could find was as below by Frank Gill,  there is the usual wrong trees on My heritage and Ancestry even family search is wrong. 

I suggest you upgrade to a full member and start with yourself and work  backwards to Mathias Goodrich, there is a Mathias Goodrich here see Matthias M. Goodrich (1755-1813) | WikiTree FREE Family Tree  Although  there is not much in the profile. The Manager of the profile has not been active since Fer 2019, but it may be worthwhile giving him a private message to see what he does know.

Thank you, I am new at WikiTree and trying to understand the communication process. I am aware of the Connecticut Goodrich's, and I understand the Lineage going back to England.  I descend from Thomas "the Virginia immigrant". He is a cousin to the CT group.  There is a lot of mistaken lines on Ancestry.com.  I do understand this as the families used the same names over and over. But, Matthias was not the son of Wm Goodrich and Sarah Marvin...I see that error all the time. Matthias did however name one son William and the other Robert. Because of the naming traditions, I feel "William" was most likely the name of Matthias' father .  I have narrowed the families down to the possibility of Edward b. 1713, married Ann Briggs in 1728, could be Williams parents.....who could possibly be Mathias' father. Although, a son identified as William ( born ? 1729-1735) is not named by Edward.  Just speculation on my part.  Thank you again for your reply.

Mathias Goodrich, North Carolina Marriages, 1759-1979

He married Phebe Cheek 1 Dec 1780 at Warren, North Carolina

Mathias Goodrich served in the American Revolutionary War as indicated by pay vouchers.

Looked for but did not find his parents names.
