Am not sure just where to put this but this girl from New Zealand has come up with a solution to the problem of having two different husbands on this man's son who moved to New Zealand after spending a short time in Australia.  This is for information only: to others who may be following the Herd/Hird families in Canada and in New Zealand.:

"This is the profile I have made for the other David Herd.

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Herd-869 You will see that I have added his wife, Helen/Ellen. I have listed the children I am sure of, but there are obviously others. You can access all the documents online yourself. (A lot of NZ sources are free and easily accessed. I don’t even need to belong to Ancestry!)

My thought is that I will add Margaret Herd Paynter to “your” David Herd and attach Margaret Elizabeth Herd Don to Herd-869 above and fix up her dates, sources etc."

I’ll remove the detail about the marriage of Helen, and the death of George from “your” profiles. I’ll see if I can find the correct marriage and therefore death source for “your” Helen. (I will probably create the other Herd profiles- George is easy. Helen might be more difficult.)

She had some up with this solution.  Do not know this family and since my information came from another source, a Stevie Herd do not know how to fix this.  Hope this meets with the approval of anyone involved.

They are two completely different people, Lauraine. Herd-869  was born in Peterhead. David Herd, the son of James Blair Herd, was born in Dundee. They just happen to have wives called Helen/Ellen and both have daughters called Margaret and Helen. They are two entirely different families who have been combined. I plan to improve the sourcing to make the differences clearer. As I have stated in my email to you, the dates on Margaret Herd Don are completely wrong, and I plan to investigate the daughter called Helen who would not be likely to have married at Wetherstones given that she was from Blenheim and only 15.
My information was that David Herd had another daughter called Margaret - the first one died that came from Scotland and the second one borne in New Zealand.  She is the one who married Don.  Now this info could be wrong but I took it to be true as Stevie was/is (?) a Herd or married a Herd so thought she would know.  Also as she also found Archibald Herd's wife's grave in Invergowrie, Scotland.  The reason I wrote this here was so that people could see how you are dealing with this matter..

I do appreciate all the help you are trying to give me.  Thank you.
