Looking for the father and mother of John William Holt, b: 1823, Limestone Co., AL

Died circa 1870 in  Limestone Co., AL.  Husband of Lucy J Newby Holt. Wikitree profile Holt-3372. In the 1870 census for Limestone Co. there is a John Holt, 72, listed in John William's household, but it doesn't state his relationship in the household and I won't add as a father until I can prove it.

If anyone has any substantiated info on his parentage I would greatly appreciate the information and where to go to get proof.

Thanks.

I discovered the answer to the brick wall person in my search. His name was John D. Holt. After seven years of searching I found it on Limestonearchives.com. Now, I am searching for the father of John D. Holt of North Carolina. Possibly immigrated to Alabama before it became a state.  Wife's name was Nancy, maiden name unknown.

Thanks

My name is Roger Holt and I am fairly certain this is my family. We came from the Alsace Loraine area of Europe and the family has branches in North Carolina and Tennessee(Lincoln Co. which I believe is near Alabama). My father was Jerald Mack Holt born in Ames, OK, died in Enid, OK and buried in the Orion Cemetery in western Oklahoma. My grandfather was John Mack Holt. I'm not sure where he was born. He worked as a lineman for the telephone company and married in Ames, OK. He farmed in western Oklahoma and retired in Fairview, OK. He died in Enid and is buried in the Ames Cemetery.

My brother, Alan, has a good start on our family tree and has an account on this site. If we can exchange any information I would be very happy to do so. I also just wanted to reach out to some of my relatives to say howdy.

Sincerely,

Roger Holt

Thank you for your reply, Roger. I don't know if there is a connection between our branches yet, but I have discovered the father of John William Holt of LImestone  Co. Alabama. It was John Holt and his wife was Nancy. I found it in the public land records of Limestone County.John gave his son, John William, some land out of the family holdings, if memory serves, in about 1853.

I am always interested in talking to family and comparing records. If  you ever have a question I can help with, feel free to contact me.
