Gilbert Spence from Orkney

Question

My Grandfather was John Gilbert Spence born 1912, in Fort william Ontario, he vanished in 1945, still a mystery. His Father was Peter Phillip Spence, Mother Virginie ST Pierre (Spence). Father was Born in Pic river Ontario in 1882. Peters father was Gilbert Spence from Manitoulin Island but was born in Orkney and married Elizabeth May whos father was Humphrey phillip may. Gilbert Spence was born in Orkney around 1833 we think and his parents we think are John and Mary Spence. John Spence may have been born around 1786, we are not 100% but this is where we are at. Any info on any one or tracking to even earlier times would be a great gift.

I found death reg. for Gilbert Spence b. May 14, 1833, Scotland.  He was manager Hudsons Bay Store. d. Feb 12, 1912, Fort William.  Do you have this doc?  If not email me your email address and I'll forward.
